556 El Camino Real

An application has been approved for environmental review, Condominium Permit, Design Review, and Conditional Use Permit for Building Height for construction of a new five-story, 21-unit residential condominium building with below-grade parking at 556 El Camino Real.  The proposed project includes three 1-bedroom units, twelve 2-bedroom units and six 3-bedroom units. The existing apartment complex would be demolished to build the proposed condominium building.

Planning Commission Meeting - May 11, 2020
On May 11, 2020, the Planning Commission reviewed a revised application for a new five-story, 21-unit residential condominium building with below-grade parking at 556 El Camino Real.

PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING - May 29, 2018
The Burlingame Planning Commission held a public hearing to take action on the application on May 29, 2018. The Planning Commission decision has been appealed to the City Council. The applicant is making revisions to the project, and it will return for consideration at a later date.

Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration - In accordance with Section 15072(a) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, notice is hereby given of the City’s intent to adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration for the proposed project. The City of Burlingame has completed a review of the proposed project, and on the basis of an Initial Study and mitigations, finds that the project will not have a significant effect upon the environment. The Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration and Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration are available for public review through the links below and at City Hall, Community Development Department - Planning Division, 501 Primrose Road, Burlingame, California, 94010.

PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING - February 24, 2014
An environmental scoping and design review study meeting was held by the Planning Commission on February 24, 2014. The Commission provided input and directed the applicant to be reviewed by a design review consultant. Once a revised project is submitted, the project will be scheduled for an additional design review study meeting.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The following are pertinent details regarding the proposed development:

  • Site Area: 15,107 square feet
  • Proposed Units: 21 units (four 1-bedroom, seven 2-bedroom and ten 3-bedroom units)
  • Parking:  35 spaces (underground in an automated parking facility)
  • Building Height: 5 stories, 50 feet to top of building roof; 55 feet to top of elevator penthouse
