Leaders in Training (LIT)
Looking for a way to volunteer in your Community?

Here's what you need to know:
  • You need to be entering 8th-12th grade.
  • Submit an application, go to an interview, and attend the mandatory training on June 15th 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • As an LIT, you will assist in the facilitation of the day to day camp activities. 
  • The Parks and Recreation staff strive to provide LITs with real world working experience, leadership skills, and community service opportunities.   
Here are your options:

LIT 1: 
Candidates may select between 1-3 weeks.
LIT 1's volunteer Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (they do not attend the weekly Wednesday field trips)
They will choose either a morning 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. or afternoon 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. shift.
*Responsible for assisting staff with supervision of campers and provide programming ideas.
*LIT 1 candidates must be entering eighth grade to apply.
The cost is $75 per week volunteered. 

LIT 2: 
Candidates may select between 2–5 weeks. 
LIT 2's volunteer from 9:00am-4:00 Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, and Wednesday's (field trip days) from 9:00 a.m.-5:15p.m.
*Responsible for assisting staff with implementation of camp activities, assist with supervision of campers and provide programming ideas.
LIT 2 candidates must be High School age (entering 9th grade is acceptable). 
The cost is $160 per week volunteered.

LIT1 or LIT2 at Camp Treehouse located at Village Park Preschool (1535 California Blvd)
Candidates may select between 1-4 weeks.
The shift will be 9am-Noon 
*Responsible for assisting Preschool teachers with campers ages 3-4 with playing games and assisting with arts and crafts.
The cost is $75 per week volunteered.
