Most Burlingame playgrounds now open - click here to learn about the guidelines
For your family’s safety, all playground visitors must follow the mandatory safety rules from the California Department of Public Health (posted at each playground location). Rules include:
- Age 2 and over must wear face coverings.
- Don’t crowd. Maintain 6 feet distance from others. Playground maximum occupancy is posted at each location.
- You are responsible for washing or sanitizing hands before and after use.
- Children must be actively supervised at all times.
- No eating or drinking in the playground area.
- Limit visits to 30 minutes when others are waiting.
If you are unable to comply with the safety and park rules, we ask that you refrain from using the playground areas at this time. The City does not have the personnel available to continually monitor the playgrounds and, short of physically detaining every rule violator, there is no way to ensure that the safety guidelines are uniformly observed.
It is important to note that even when all State safety guidelines are followed, visitors should be aware that there are risks involved with using this high-touch, shared equipment. While the City has dedicated extra resources to cleaning playground equipment, no amount of periodic cleaning can guarantee that the equipment will be free of viruses or other infectious materials since they can be left behind after a single use. Just like all other activities we participate in during COVID-19, people will have to make their own decisions about what risks they feel comfortable taking. We all need to take personal responsibility for following the rules, being a good neighbor, and taking steps to protect ourselves and our families. Remember, your actions affect the health and well-being of our community. Learn more on the California Department of Public Health website at https://www.cdph.ca.gov/.
