Burlingame Parks & Recreation COVID-19 update

Updated March 30, 2020: Park amenities that encourage contact or close gatherings have been closed until further notice. These include playgrounds, park restrooms, sports & tennis courts, the dog park and off-leash areas, picnic areas, and fitness equipment.

We do understand that parks provide many public health benefits when used appropriately. Therefore, please help us keep them open and safe by taking these basic social distancing practices seriously:

  • Practice social distancing. Maintain a distance of 6 feet or more from other visitors. Pathways in parks are not wide enough everywhere, so provide space by moving to an adjacent path or elsewhere in the park.
  • Use the bathroom at home. The restrooms in the parks are closed.
  • Do not touch anything. We cannot ensure the adequate disinfection of railings, benches, picnic benches, etc.
  • Keep your trash. Pack it in, pack it out to ease the burden on reduced staffing levels.

March 13, 2020: Our highest priority is to ensure the safety and well being of our community during the rapidly changing COVID-19 health threat. After reviewing the executive order from Governor Newsom and the updated policy issued by the California Department of Public Health, programs offered by Burlingame Parks & Recreation Department are being postponed/canceled effective Saturday, March 14 through Friday, April 10.

As you are aware, response to the COVID-19 is an evolving situation, so please look for future updates and check your email for specific program information. We will provide a refund for canceled programs, but will not process refunds/credits until we are fully aware of the duration of program postponements/cancellations. We appreciate your patience during this time.
