What's Happening at the Library for Teens?

Teens are invited to come and de-stress at the library on Friday, September 16 at 4pm 
while you make your own lip balm and bath bomb to take home. We will provide all ingredients,

TEEN MONITOR-Youth Poet Laureate for Teens-SEP-2022-1920x1080
Teens (and their parents) are invited to join us on Saturday, September 17 at 1:30pm 
for a special informational session about what it takes to be the City of Burlingame's first ever
Youth Poet Laureate! We will go over the rules, duties, benefits, and application requirements
to be awarded this very prestigious position.
We will also hold Poetry Workshops for applicants (and anybody else interested in writing poetry!)
on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 1:30pm through February 2023. Registration is not required,
but you may register here if you would like a reminder email.

TEEN MONITOR-College Admissions Essay-SEP-2022-1920x1080
The authors of The Better College Essay: From Start to Finish (2021) Dr. Elizabeth A. Stone
and Meredith Joelle Charlson will walk teens through their successful process of tackling
college admissions essay writing on Monday, September 19 at 6:30pm in the Lane Community Room
of the Main Library. Parents are also invited and copies of the book will be for sale at the event.

if you would like to receive a reminder email. 

Fall Toastmasters FB
Youth ages 12-18 are invited to participate in this FREE 9-week Youth Leadership Program
in the Lane Community Room of the Burlingame Main Library on
Saturdays from 2-3:30pm October 1 - December 3, 2022 (except October 15).
The program is presented by Millbrae Toastmasters and the Burlingame Public Library
In this program youth will:
Develop Leadership + Communication Skills Through Practical Experience
Improve Public Speaking Ability

FREE BOOK and reading log to get started!  When you finish the reading log,
bring it to either library and receive a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card.
All finishers can  enter their names into the giveaway for a $1,000 college scholarship!

TEEN MONITOR-Teen Wanted-BPL Homework Center-AUGUST-2022-1920x1080
Teens with a 3.5+ GPA who want to help kids in Grades K-8 with their homework
after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 4-6pm this fall are invited to
fill out an application to be a Teen Mentor at the Burlingame Public Library Homework Center!
Applications can be found at https://www.burlingame.org/library/about/volunteer_opportunities.php 
and should be returned to Teen Librarian Jenny Miner (miner@plsinfo.org) by Friday, August 26.
 
*There is a mandatory training on Wednesday, September 7 at 4pm
in the Lane Community Room for all Teen Mentors*
