Subdivision Map

The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department accepts and processes map updates, such as lot line adjustments, parcel maps and final maps.  The links below provide information and procedures for the various map actions.  The applicant typically hires a licensed land surveyor or civil engineer (licensed prior to January 1, 1982) to prepare the submittal package as required for the specific map action.  Once a package is complete, City staff will review internally and provide comments.  When all comments have been addressed, the package will be scheduled for review with the Planning Commission.  Lot line adjustments can be approved by the Planning Commission.  Parcel maps and final maps must be forwarded to City Council for approval.  Once approved, the maps can be recorded at San Mateo County by a title company.  The entire process from submittal to recordation with the County can take three (3) months to upwards of a year depending on the approval process through the Planning Department.
