Occidental Avenue and Ralston Avenue intersection was identified in the 2020 Updated Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan as a high priority location recommended for improvements. Occidental Avenue is also recommended as a Class 3B Neighborhood Bike Route. The Occidental Avenue Bike and Ped Improvement project proposes the introduction of median islands at the concerned intersections with the goal to increase visibility and reduce pedestrian crossing distance. Traffic calming features are also being proposed along Occidental Avenue as part of the “quick-build” project.
