The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to provide an opportunity for the public and the Commission to comment on the Safeway project and on the environmental document prepared for the project on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., in the Burlingame City Council Chambers, 501 Primrose Road. The project, located at 1420-1450 Howard Avenue and 249 Primrose Road, is a proposal to demolish the existing Safeway and Walgreens buildings on the site and build a new Safeway store and a new mixed use building. The existing Wells Fargo Building at 249 Primrose Road, now occupied by Atherton Culinary, would be remodeled as a part of the project.
ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENT FOR SAFEWAY PROJECT
NOW AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW
On November 12, 2009, the Mitigated Negative Declaration for the proposed Safeway project was completed and is now available for public review. A Mitigated Negative Declaration is a finding that based on the analysis of the project, and based on the proposed mitigation measures, it will not have a significant effect on the environment.
