Meters are read approximately every 60 days, and billed immediately afterwards. A 1.5% penalty is assessed on bills not paid within 30 days.

If service is disconnected for non-payment there will be an additional charge for reconnection. There is also an additional charge for returned checks.

Burlingame purchases its water from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commision. The current water rate effective March 3, 2010 is $6.31 per 1000 gallons ($7.03 in Burlingame Hills). The first 2000 gallons per billing period of residential usage are included in the bimonthly fixed charge.

FIXED CHARGE:

A bimonthly fixed charge is assessed based on meter size. This charge is to recover costs not directly related to water consumption, such as meter reading and repair, customer service, insurance and water testing requirements. For most residential customers – those with a 5/8” or 3/4” meter – this fixed charge is currently $57.96 bimonthly. This includes the first 2000 gallons of water per billing period.

SEWER RATES EFFECTIVE MARCH 3, 2010

Residential customers (except Burlingame Hills):

When new customer service is provided to premises classified as single-family or duplex, the customer will be charged at a bi-monthly rate based on the number of residents reported to occupy the premises as follows:

Per capita rates will be used until the customer has had service through a consecutive January, February, March ad April, and on July 1 following that consecutive period, the sewer rate for the customer will be adjusted to the applicable rate specified in section 15.08.070(a). Following a second consecutive January, February, March, and April, the rate will be further adjusted according to the demonstrated water usage for the total eight months on July 1 following the second consecutive period. Consumption for the months of January-April for the previous three years is averaged, then multiplied by the current sewer rate approved by City council. Because the cost of sewage treatment is higher than our cost for clean water, the sewer rate is higher than the water rate. Current sewer rates are as follows (all rates are per 1000 gallons of water usage).

Automatic Payment Service (APS)

Payment may be made in person at City Hall, mailed to the Water Office, or placed into one of our conveniently located drop boxes. You can pay by check, money order, cashier’s check, cash or credit card. Automatic Payment Service (APS) is available for withdrawals through your bank.  Set up at Automatic Payment Service (APS).  Cash payments should be made in person at the Water Office. Credit card payments must be made in person only. A walk-up drop box is located at the Primrose Road entrance to City Hall. A drive-through drop box is located at the City Hall parking lot exit.
